Engagement: Brooke & Blake – Auburn, Alabama

Whenever I have couples coming in from out of state (in Brooke & Blake’s case, North Carolina), I always hope that the weather will cooperate because rescheduling isn’t really an option. The weather was great, but we ran into another little hurdle when we were going through their wardrobe – Brooke had all her clothes…except for the bag that had her jeans in it. So what do you do when you’re in the middle of Auburn and your jeans are in Montgomery? You go shopping at Gap. 🙂an auburn university engagement sessionan auburn university engagement sessionan auburn university engagement sessionan auburn university engagement sessionan auburn university engagement sessionan auburn university engagment session

Senior Portrait: Katherine Ann – Mathews, Alabama

I think Katherine Ann was about 12 years old the first time I photographed her (her family was one of the first families I ever shot!). Now she’s a senior at Macon East, and one of the sweetest, smartest, and most well-rounded teenagers I’ve ever come across. As if that wasn’t enough, she’s completely adorable, with a smile that lights up her entire face. 🙂a modern senior portrait session in mathews alabamaThe home she’s lived in most of her life is off in the distance in this shot:a contemporary senior portrait session in mathews alabamaa lifestyle senior portrait session in mathews alabamaa fun senior portrait session outside montgomery alabamaa country senior portrait session outside montgomery alabamaa macon east academy senior portrait session in mathews alabama

Wedding: Brittany & Brynn – First Baptist Church – Montgomery, Alabama

A small Bible was tied to Brittany’s bridal bouquet – the very same Bible her mom carried down the aisle on her wedding day. What better place to find a little bit of “love”?a montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha first baptist church wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaa montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churchBrittany knew full well that if her wedding was on a game day in the state of Alabama, she needed to be prepared with a place for guests to watch – so how about TWO big screens? (Can you guess where I found the groom and groomsmen getting ready?)a montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churchThe flowers (by Susan Geddie) were all beautiful, but I especially loved the arrangements hanging from the top of the reception tent. There were personal touches in the flowers as well – the wooden boxes used for the centerpieces were made by Brittany and her dad!a montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churcha montgomery alabama wedding and reception at first baptist churchI loved that they went against the norm and put the cakes (by Cake Designs) in the courtyard area outside First Baptist Church. So long 2011 – 2012 is on like Donkey Kong!

When the new year rolls around, it’s kind of like a birthday – you look back on the previous year and reminisce, and hope that the next year is even better than the last. There are always ups and downs, but as a whole I can’t complain, 2011 was a great year full of great moments. I ran my first (and my second) half marathon. My dog Missy officially became a teenager when she had her 13th birthday in July. I went to 3 countries (Mexico, Jamaica, and France – Paris pictures are coming soon!). I watched one of my closest friends kick Stage IV cancer in the teeth. And of course, I had a year full of the best clients on the planet (to my photographer friends: I love you, but I’m convinced my clients are more awesome than yours). “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough, but to my family, friends, and clients: THANK YOU. It’s because of you that I get to do what I do, and for that, I am always grateful. Chanterelle Photography already has some amazing things in the works for 2012, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you. 🙂a destination wedding photographer in ocho rios jamaicaThanks Oubon for the pic of my midget self in action in Jamaica (yes, I had to come up on my toes a little bit to get the shot – don’t laugh!)!

Portrait: The Kirkland Family – Hampstead – Montgomery, Alabama

Getting a family picture when you have a toddler involved can be tricky…unless you let go of the notion that a great family picture means everyone is smiling and looking at the camera. 🙂a family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabamaa family portrait session at hampstead in montgomery alabama
