Wedding: Shaquan & Michael – Alley Station – Montgomery, Alabama

You know the wedding is off to a chic start when you get to the bride’s suite at the Renaissance Hotel and see an Alfred Angelo gown and violet Badgley Mischka shoes:an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaAdd perfect makeup (courtesy of Makeup Madness by Cherry), a birdcage veil (can I just say I LOVE them???), and pomanders (by Jean the Florist) – and you’ve gone way past chic into stunning territory:an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabama an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaI loved that Shaquan had her brother walk her down the aisle, and they had doves released in memory of their loved ones who are no longer with us:an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaAnd on their way out, they jumped the broom. Instead of a ring bearer, they had a broom bearer, and apparently he overestimated Shaquan’s jumping ability when he set the broom down – Michael had to move it closer a couple of times before Shaquan thought she could cover the distance in her dress!an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaAt the reception, guests were treated to cakes by Cake Designs (white cake for the bride, red velvet for the groom), and entertainment by the awesome band Az-Izz:an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaWe decided to take a few more pictures just for giggles (and without the birdcage veil so we could see more of Shaquan’s gorgeous face):an alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamaan alley station wedding and reception in montgomery alabamShaquan and Michael – I hope you finally got to go on that honeymoon (they had to postpone their Virgin Islands honeymoon since there was a tropical storm in the area), but if you didn’t, I hope you ate a bunch of that leftover cake in the meantime! 😉

Snapshots: The French Quarter – New Orleans, Louisiana

After watching Ironman Florida, I drove straight from Panama City Beach to New Orleans for a photography conference. When you put a bunch of photographers together, there are pictures being taken left and right, 24/7 – I’ll resist posting the incriminating ones (you’re welcome, photog friends!) and instead give you a few snippets from the French Quarter, courtesy of the iPhone:french quarter new orleans instagram picturesfrench quarter new orleans instagram picturesfrench quarter new orleans instagram pictures

Portrait: Mary Larkin – Blount Cultural Park – Montgomery, Alabama

People often say, “It must be so much fun to do what you do, taking pictures of adorable babies, sweet families, and pretty brides!” Of course it’s fun…but every now and then, things don’t go exactly as planned. Like when you’re just about to start a shoot and the adorable baby falls and hits her head. That’s what happened to Mary Larkin, but she hung in there and we got what we needed!a baby portrait session at the shakespeare festivala baby portrait session at the shakespeare festivala baby portrait session at the shakespeare festivala baby portrait session at the shakespeare festivala baby portrait session at the shakespeare festival

“Singin’ In The Rain” – Christmas 2011

When it came time to decide on a theme for the 2011 Chanterelle Photography Christmas Card, I had two ideas – one was a little shout out to Gene Kelly in “Singin’ In The Rain” (I won’t tell you the other one, because I might need it next year!). I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pull it off since it was going to require at least two separate shoots, plus Missy is now almost totally deaf, which makes getting her attention that much more difficult. And where the heck do you find a doggy raincoat that will fit a 70 lb. dog anyway (thank you Amazon)? But in the end, we worked it out with the help of a lot of dog treats and hot pink lipstick. 🙂
