Wedding: Melissa & Chambers – The Oaks Plantation – Pike Road, Alabama

If you’re a regular blog reader, you’ll recognize a lot of the faces in this post. I can’t say enough about Melissa & Chambers and their families – they are just genuinely nice people, the kind of people that it just feels good to be around. This day was a long time coming, as Melissa & Chambers had been dating five years, and more than half of that time was long distance. So by the time everyone rolled up to The Oaks Plantation in Pike Road, anticipation was in the air.

Melissa & Chambers affectionately call each other “dove” – they weren’t able to release doves at the wedding like they wanted, so Melissa’s sister Liza made some for them. 🙂rickettsblog01All the details came together nicely thanks to coordinator Amanda from RSVP and gorgeous floral work by Frou Frou:rickettsblog02rickettsblog03All I have to say about this image is: SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!rickettsblog04rickettsblog05Oh yes, Miss Vanessa, I am a total sucker for your dimples:rickettsblog06I decided to bust out my iPod and have a little lip synch contest between the girls and the guys – the girls got a little funky to Lady GaGa:rickettsblog07But I think the boys may have rocked a little harder to Dire Straits (check out ring bearer Sergio in the second pic – awesome!):rickettsblog08rickettsblog09rickettsblog10rickettsblog11rickettsblog12rickettsblog13rickettsblog14rickettsblog15rickettsblog16rickettsblog17rickettsblog18The bottom fell out and it poured just before the start of the reception, but they lived happily ever after anyway. 🙂rickettsblog19Thanks to Melissa & Chambers for letting me be there – I hope I get to see you soon!

Portrait: AddiBeth – Montgomery, Alabama

When I met little miss Addison, aka AddiBeth, I noticed her big blue eyes, squishable cheeks, and sweet little lips right away – but my favorite things about her are her adorable elfin ears! Rumor has it, she has a Yoda costume for Halloween (okay, so it’s not exactly a rumor, her mom told me) – she will be the coolest baby trick or treater ever!bradshawblog3bradshawblog5bradshawblog2bradshawblog4bradshawblog1

Virginia Pre-wedding Adventures – Newport News, Virginia

October is always a crazy month with everyone getting sessions done for the holidays – so I’ve been away from blogging, but I’ll try to post as I have time! A few weeks ago, I made a quick trip to Newport News, Virginia to shoot a wedding – and you can’t go all the way out to Newport News without going to Colonial Williamsburg! I arrived the day before the wedding, so I hopped in my little rental car to check things out since I had never been there before. Here are some of my favorite snaps from my jaunt around Colonial Williamsburg:
vablog2vablog3I thought the padlocks looked like teddy bear heads – and apparently, even in Colonial times, energy efficient lightbulbs were all the rage. 🙂vablog1vablog4The College of William & Mary is nearby – the campus is just gorgeous:cwmblogPics from Meghan & Adam’s Virginia wedding will be posted soon!

After the ceremony, we came back to Edwina’s house for a tea ceremony:edwinawenbey13edwinawenbey14Then we were off to Markham Museum for portraits – Edwina & Wen-Bey gave us an incredible amount of time for pictures, so we were able to give them a ton to choose from!edwinawenbey15edwinawenbey16edwinawenbey17edwinawenbey18edwinawenbey19edwinawenbey20edwinawenbey21Time to kick off the reception with the official first dance:edwinawenbey22Then table toasts (and another wardrobe change – did you catch that one?)edwinawenbey23Finally, a funny, endearing, and emotional toast from Edwina’s dad had Wen-Bey cheering and shedding a tear.edwinawenbey24Thanks to Edwina & Wen-Bey for letting me come all the way from the States to be a part of your wedding!

Wedding: Edwina & Wen-Bey, Part 1 – St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church – Toronto, Ontario, Canada

As I mentioned in a previous post, I recently second shot two weddings in Toronto for my fabulous photographer friend Judy Cormier. So here’s the first one – well, the first part of the first one, because I have so many pictures I want to share that I’m going to have to make this one a two-parter!

Edwina started the day in a traditional red Chinese dress, with a white dress (and adorable dog Chloe) waiting in the wings.edwinawenbey01edwinawenbey03Helloooooooooo, Manoloedwinawenbey02Soon, the boys arrived with money in hand, ready for the traditional door games that take place as the groom and groomsmen arrive at the bride’s house. Think of it like the wedding version of a fraternity hazing – the bridesmaids give the guys different tasks to do before they are allowed to enter the house.edwinawenbey04First, there were jello shots with hot sauce on them:edwinawenbey05Then they had to wear adult diapers that spelled out the bride’s name:edwinawenbey06After a few more tasks, they negotiated their way into the house with a little bit of green, just in time to take a few pictures with the bridal party, including Chloe:edwinawenbey07edwinawenbey08Time for a wardrobe change before the church ceremony:edwinawenbey09edwinawenbey10edwinawenbey11edwinawenbey12To be continued…
