Wedding: Tonya & Robert – Jasmine Hill Gardens – Wetumpka, Alabama

Judging by the amount of laughter at their engagement session, I expected that Tonya and Robert’s wedding would be a relaxed and fun one. Tonya had to concentrate to keep from laughing when her maid of honor put on her makeup, while the tunes of their favorite singer, Taylor Swift, played in the background.mcgonagleblog6mcgonagleblog7mcgonagleblog8mcgonagleblog9mcgonagleblog10I expected Robert would arrive in his black Corvette, and would have no problem making his “sexy face” – and even though a too-small shirt threw him a momentary curveball, he delivered:mcgonagleblog11mcgonagleblog5What I didn’t expect were the many touching, truly heartfelt moments that happened over the course of the day. I wanted to squeeze Tonya’s grandparents – I hope when I am their age, that my husband and I are as sweet as this:mcgonagleblog2mcgonagleblog12mcgonagleblog3mcgonagleblog13mcgonagleblog14And if you’ve read some of my previous wedding blog posts, then you know I have a soft spot for daddies and daughters – when Tonya’s dad got choked up during his toast, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.mcgonagleblog4mcgonagleblog15Special thanks to Tonya and Robert and the O’Banion and McGonagle families for letting me be a part of such a sweet (and hot!) day!

Portrait: Erin – Montgomery, Alabama

Shooting with Erin was almost like shooting two different little girls – I know, that sounds weird! At first, she was a bit on the quiet side (not unusual at the beginning of a session), she wore a dress, and had her hair pulled back with a bow in it. When she changed into her second outfit (a casual one from Justice), she was used to me being there, and she wore her hair down. I was shocked at how different she looked! Either way, she is just adorable!hughesblog1hughesblog4hughesblog2hughesblog3hughesblog5

Portrait: The Fain Family – Montgomery, Alabama

Sheryl knew what her response would be when her kids asked what she wanted for her Mother’s Day gift – a family portrait! It took a little bit of time to coordinate everyone’s schedules (the weenie dog stays especially busy 😉 ), so we ended up shooting on what seemed like one of the hottest days of the summer. Even though their backyard had a good amount of shade, it was still sweltering – but they were good sports, with the heat and bugs and all!fainblog1fainblog2fainblog3fainblog4fainblog5

Snapshots: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Been away from the blog for bit – because I had the opportunity recently to second shoot a fabulous wedding in Toronto (yes, Canada) for my friend and photographer extraordinaire, Judy Cormier! I’m back now and catching up on phone calls and emails, and will be back to blogging soon, but in the meantime, here’s a little happy snap I took in Toronto with my slightly poor photo quality iPhone!toronto1blog

Wedding: Amanda & Robert – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church & Selma Country Club – Selma, Alabama

When I was driving home from Selma after shooting Amanda & Robert’s wedding, I admit, I was a little smug. I just KNEW they were going to end up with a HUGE pile of to-die-for pictures. Not because I think I’m some sort of genius with a camera, haha. Not because it had been a beautiful sunny day. Not because the bridesmaids wore a chic shade of gunmetal grey. It was because they gave me a TON of time for pictures – they were willing to take all of their formal pictures before the ceremony (love that!), and as if that wasn’t enough, they wanted to know if after the ceremony, we could go over to the historic hotel where they were spending the night to take more pictures (um, historic hotel + more picture time = sign me up!).
collinsblog16It didn’t hurt that Amanda chose a gorgeous Melissa Sweet gown that was perfect for her:collinsblog13And once the veil was put in her hair, it was almost like you turned on the “bride” switch – I mean, how pretty is she???collinsblog7collinsblog2Robert was lookin’ pretty spiffy himself:collinsblog6They agreed to see each other before the ceremony, which I love because…collinsblog10…you get pictures like this…collinsblog12…and this! “So…how do I look?”collinsblog11Gotta have a bridal party jump shot. It was so funny because we had some timing issues, but I think the groomsmen made up for it – check out their fierce ninja skills!collinsblog15collinsblog9Off to the St. James Hotel for more pics. I thought it had a little New Orleans flavor.collinsblog8When I saw the lobby, I got a little giddy because I could see this picture in my head – I remember telling Amanda & Robert, “We HAVE to shoot on that couch.” Of course they were all for it, and we got my favorite picture of the day. It’s insane, right?!?!?!collinsblog3collinsblog14Did I forget to mention they got from the church to the hotel in a Rolls Royce? Can you say photo op?collinsblog4collinsblog17collinsblog5Later that night at the Selma Country Club, they surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance – thanks to Amanda & Robert for letting me be part of your day. I hope you two always shine in the spotlight. 🙂collinsblog1
