Rangefinder Magazine (the biggest professional photography magazine in the US) recently held a contest for the cover of their July issue, sponsored by Nikon. I thought, what the heck, and sent in one of my favorite recent images, thinking it might stand out because it was something different (not a wedding image or typical portrait), but certainly not expecting anything because of the caliber of work that is regularly published in the magazine. Awards were given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, as well as the top 10 honorable mentions – and I just got an email that I received one of the honorable mentions. The email also mentioned there were 1700 entries, so when I did the math in my head, I was totally floored and completely flattered. It blows my mind that I placed in the top 13 out of 1700. I think I’m still in shock.

What makes it even better, is that even though I didn’t win the cover, they will be featuring all 13 winners’ images in a 4 page spread inside the magazine, so I will be officially published. The images will also be displayed in their own gallery at next year’s WPPI Convention in Las Vegas, which I will definitely be at because they are giving me complimentary registration too!
